Teen Sunday - THIS SUNDAY

Students, Parents, and ALL OTHERS,

This is a reminder that THIS SUNDAY is TEEN SUNDAY.
Please meet at the church at 10AM to help by participating in the
service. We will be:
Ushering
Greeting
Singing (all teens singing You Are My King (Amazing Love))
Support
Power Point (computer work)

James is doing scripture reading
Oliva is singing a solo

Meet at the church at 10AM to get prepared, pray, and practice.
The service begins at 10:40 AM
Following the service we will have a cookout (hotdogs and the
like) on the lawn by the FLC (Family Life Center). Family is
welcome to join us.

20070319 - 1:26PM - Filters!! AUGH!

So the district put in a new filter... and it really filtered
EVERYTHING out... I can't access ANYTHING ANY MORE! It is so crazy
to try and get "real" information from the "real" world when you
live behind a firewall!! none the less...

Hey this week is only a four day week...

20070315 - 10:30AM - NUMBERS, NUMBERS, NUMBERS

I just finished teaching my first class, and now I am working with
a bunch of numbers. A lot of numbers. I am coding into the
computer tracking system a whole bunch of new equipment we got. It
is not fun stuff, but part of "the job." And I won't be "teaching"
a class again till 2:30PM. I know a long period of entering
numbers, numbers, numbers.

20070314 - 10:28AM - Hot Day in Here

Where I work I don't get air conditioning. I open the windows and
it is a nice cross brezze, but that doens't last all day. By the
end of the day I would say my room is a good 85+ degrees! So I
have a hot day ahead, it is going to be 82 here in this area...
means Hot day in this room...

20070308 - 11:00AM - Pcitures, Pictures, Pictures

I have been taking pictures like crazy today! Why? Oh for the year
book, nothing like leaving pages to the last minute! So off to
more pictures to take...

20070307 - 9:23AM - 4 What?

A meeting today at 7:30AM... Can you believe that... So I made it
(we made it, mom here too) by 7:35AM and then took two donuts.
Then about 8AM I took another donut. And yes, then 9AM I took
another dount. Yup, yup, that makes 4 donuts. Boy I think that
eating right just went out the door!

20070306 - 1:54PM - Slooowww Day

Today seems to be going quite slow. I don't know why. I even had
more classes today then any other day of the week, and yet it is
dragging. Maybe it is the whole spring thing? I have been working
on sub plans that I will be using in a couple of weeks. Getting
subs lined up and all that fun stuff. The District is sending us
away to a training, I am looking forward to it. It too will be
busy though...

20070306 - 9:02AM - Lions, Tigers, And Bears!

Oh, my far to long it has been, far to busy too. Been teaching,
yes indeed, been teaching a new program and filling these minds
with much information. They have plenty of questions, and we but
can't help give them the right info! At anyrate, teaching a new
search engine these days call NetTrekker, pretty cool, really
easy, and fun too!

Don't you love it when your friends leave their emails open... you
write an email in their name... yeah that makes for good
fridays...

20070227 - 11:07 AM - Pita

Yes I am still eating penut butter sandwiches, but today it is a
pita penut butter sandwich. I am looking forward to it. Man it has
been busy, but it is one of those busy of so many little things
you don't feel like you have accomplished much at all. I don't
like that. I like accomplishing things... Pita in 35 minutes!

20070222 - 9:00 AM - GREAT DAY! Becomes "OK" Day!

Yes, a great day was planned... I mean a really great day. Only
teaching for about an hour. Then off to a meeting with friends,
and then a late lunch. Well, sadly, the "friend" part disappeared.
I am bummed about that. That is what makes the GREAT day an "OK"
day. I mean don't get me wrong, OK is OK, it just isn't great. Who
likes to eat lunch alone?

20070221 - 10:52 AM - Caffateria Apple

So I am a little hungry. I needed a snack. I didn't bring a snack.
I know the caffateria has "good" snacks. So I went down and saw
that they have apples. So I bought one and ate it. Boy it was nice
to have an apple to curb the hunger until 12:30PM. That is when
lunch is today... 12:30PM. I have been busy this morning and not
able to get all that I would like done... Off I go...

20070216 - 10:00 AM - Son here

I have my oldest son with me at work today, my middle child was
not happy about that. But South Carolina does not have school
today and we North Carolina (where I work) does. So I broguht him
along. I teach first and second grade today so he will fit right
in. And of course I had to pick up donuts for him today (I took a
few for myself too).

20070215 - 1:23PM - This Place Is Crazy!!

A friend of mine likes to walk in here (my room) and say "THIS
PLACE IS CRAZY!" So, he is not here today, and I have to admit
that he is missing out on one of the craziest days. We got
aqusations flying, people screaming at eachother... oh the work
place... and it isn't even the WOMEN that are doing it!!

20070214 - 11:43AM - Valentines @ School

Oh, I am sure you remember the day, maybe you got some goodies, or
you might have been the one left out!! But all I can say is the
kidos are all syched up and crazy. They are all talking about
thier PARTIES that they are going to have at the end of the day...
wild... wild bunch...

20070212 - 8:45 AM - Off And Running

Why is it on Mondays, everything seems more tired? I mean I got a
good nights sleep last night, but I feel tired. At any rate today
is shaping up to be a good day. I will be in the GYM for a couple
of hours today working with the Music Lady. Of course those are
the two classes that I enjoy... oh well... OH GREAT... A FIRE
SIREN JUST WENT OFF.... gota go...

20070209 - 11:57 AM - Real Fire/Say What?

so what do you do? Real Fire siren and out you go? 33 degrees
outside. Nobody has jackets, are we supose to get them? 30 minutes
outside. Crazy day so far... Lets be glad it is a friday...

20070207 - 1:06 PM - Smelly Cat (Smelly Kids)

Boy those teachers are really running these kids around. And they
are SMELLY, I mean really really bad, because it is stinking up my
whole room. It is the not taken a bath type smelly, dirty
smelly...

20070206 - 8:53 AM - BLOCKED? Not Yet!

Working at a school district puts you (the worker) behind a
firewall. Now I am all for that! There are MANY things that need
to be filter out of the way of the children and teens that attend
public school. I just wish they would allow some things to go
through!

Last night I got addicted to a new website
(http://outofthesilent.flixster.com/) called Flixster. One of the
teens I work with at church had a link to it... and yeah... it is
not blocked YET. So I might get some flixing intoday... oh too
many addictions...

20070205 - 10:32 AM - Cold/Tired

It is another cold run today. I mean drive. And I am a little
wiped out. But feeling groovy. The students are working away on
tests again. It sure is taking a long time to get them tested.
Been working on changing backgrounds, and getting ink to teachers.
It seems a lot of my time is getting ink to teachers...

20070202 - 11:33 AM - WIRE (Muisc Days)

So I am listening to WIRE by Third Day. I listen to music all day.
Usually it is "meditative" like ENYA and the like so that will
compliment the days work. Well, I just happen to leave this album
playing (very low mind you) and a girl in the back of the room (by
my desk, in First Grade), is just singing right along. It is very
cool. Sing girl, Sing! Her parents must listen to this album a
lot... She is getting a little loud now... it is funny...

20070202 - 9:48 AM - It Feels Like A Monday

Yes, no worries today. We all had to go to work and school. I hope
my son made it. It was a two hour delay for him. I am never sure
if he makes it or not. At anyrate it feels like a Monday.

Boy having that day off on a Thursday sure makes it hard to come
in. But I am getting the job done. It is a Friday. That is a good
thing. I set up a new background on the computers today for a
special thing happening here. The kids found that too be funny.
And now I have to move on without my co-worker here. There is one
who makes the day a little more fun... but alas he is home, sick,
today...

20070201 - 12:08 PM - SNOW DAY!!!

Yes, no school today, it was a snow day... So I don't have any
work to report on... I am working on "work" just not work "work."
Alright maybe tomarrow?? Maybe not... It the roads are too icy
they may cancel tomarrow too...

20070131 - 1:13 PM - Lunch Over/ Penut Butter

Yes another penut butter sandwich, but it was a bad morning.
Without even thinking I took TWO, yes count them TWO donuts when
offered. I didn't even realize till after I had them that I had
eaten them... Taht is bad... No more donuts... Lunch is over...
now a K/1 class... oh boy... kinder next again...

20070131 - 11:08 AM - Ink/Orchard/Busy

although this morning I have no students until 11AM I have been
busy changing ink cartridges, going to meetings, and fixing our
local program (ORAHCRD, a great program by the way). There hasn't
been much time for "fun" but non the less it is work. So a brief
moment in the waiting for classes to work, and then it will be 1
hour 30 minutes till lunch...

20070130 - 2:04 PM - I Got To Pee

A techer came, so I took advantage of them and went to the
restroom, thanks for worrying about me...

20070130 - 1:34 PM - I Have To Pee

All the classes I teach are back to back. That means that I have
no time between classes to do anything. Like pee. Right now my
blatter is full. It is 1:30 PM, I can't leave the room until 3:15
PM. That means I have two hours to hold it. It is going to be a
long two hours...

20070130 - 11:57 AM - The Lunch Stop

Nobody gets a lunch break. But right in the middle of the day I do
get a planning period. So it is kind of like a lunch break. I
plan. So off to plan I do... Now what to plan is another story. I
ate my standwich of penut butter. It was good... I hope it
staisfies through the rest of the day.

20070130 - 10:39 AM - EC and Time

I didn't even get a chance to go to this website yesterday. I have
been trying to make sure when I get home to spend the family time
that need wiht the family. So I am not sure how yesterdays posts
went. I have the EC group right now (only three of them) requires
a little less time of mine. But I have been fixing laptops,
wirless carts, and printers all morning... busy it has been...

20070129 - 2:41 PM - Kinder

Have I mentioned how difficult kindergarden can be. Well, I have
to remind myself to take a chill pill sometimes when it comes to
good ole' kinder...

20070129 - 1:28 PM - Back Half

Into the back half of the day now. Had a little lunch going places
I should be going, but what am I to do, I didn't even have time to
make a penut butter sandwitch this morning... I know I need to
make one the night before, that would sure make things easy... I
have a kiner/first class (now), then a second grade, and I get to
round the day off with a great kinder class... oh kinder...

20070229 - 11:12 AM - Slow Day

It has been a slow day so far. I have been testing kids all
morning in their reading program. And then since it is a test they
then move into a quite activity until all are done... So now there
is 30 minutes left of this morning crew. I then will have three
classes in the afternoon.

20070129 - 8:47 AM - 19 Degrees and Riseing

Yes, it was cold this morning. Not as cold as other places, but it
hasn't gotten down to 19 degrees around here in a while. A little
corwded on the roads this morning, I am not really sure why? Maybe
there was an accident on another road that fed into my freeways.
It is a Monday. Getting here is always the hardest, but once here,
things go good. A lot to do today. I havn't seen Monday people in
3 weeks (I work with students on a rotation) because of student
free days, holidays and the like. Listening to WIRE by THRID DAY
this morning...

20070126 - 1:04 PM - Friday's Are Nice

Even if your day is sucky, it is a Friday in the work place.
That basically means that there is always something to
look forward too. Now I admit it that I don't have a date
for tonight because my beautiful bride is working, BUT it
will be a fun time with the kids doing what they want.
We might try to fit in some wrestling and who knows what.

They has been very busy. And this will probably be my last post
for this period of time. I will return on Monday, and catch you
then...

20070126 - 8:53 AM - Late Starts

Some days are later then others. For some reason I was not able to get
all the kids out of the house on time this morning. What that means
is that I am stuck taking my shower late. Which in turns makes everything
else late too. Needless to say, I am at work, having a groovy time, as
it is a Friday! And I was work ON TIME, even if I left home late.

I noticed yesterday that some of the text got altered as I emailed this in
so I am working on "fixing" that. Has something to do with the lenght of
my lines on my email program.

OH, and those "notices" at the bottom of the other posts, that is
because I was using my work email, and they automatically add that.
That is one of the reasons why I am trying a new email to not have that
added. Anyway, off to the daily grind of life.

20070125 - 12:22 PM - The Lounge

Oh yes we have a lounge. One of my favorite episodes of RECESS is when they try to get into the teachers lounge. Well, today there was a cake. I took a large portion (trying to help some of the people with their diets by taking a double portion for me, subtraciton by addition. I ate my lunch (sphagetti again) and took a bite of cake. Words came flooding back to me.

"My mom is a baker, so I am kind of stickler about cakes and stuff." David said.

Since that conversation I have thought about the goodies that I eat. If I am going to have the calories, man it better be worth it. So I dumped the cake.

Now if it was a Cold Stone Cake that would be a different story...

20070125 - 8:20 AM - The Commute

Even though the name of this blog is eight to four (becuase that is when it will be posted too from work) I really leave fro work at around 7:20 or so. Then I get drop my son off at school around 7:30 or so, and get on the freeways and drive about 25 miles. It is a good commute. Nice trees to look out, sometimes feel like I am driving through the country. Nobody on the freeways I drive, it is nice (if one has to commute to work). I like to get to work at least 20 to 30 minutes early so that I can take care of personal business prior to when children arrive. I like to do my devotions, pray, read other books, and set up my music for the day. Leagally my job starts at 8:30 AM. Oh, I better go I have to sign in... It is like clocking in, but we write down our own times...

20070124 - 1:38 PM - Lunch & Meetings

Lunch has ended and my kinder first grade has come. They work well. I had lunch with my mom today. My mom comes to work with me on Wednesdays to work with a first grade class. She enjoys it, and who wouldn't want a vetren teacher working in their class (ok, maybe some wouldn't).

I have a meeting in about 20 minutes about inventory. Not fun. It will take a large bulk of my time here. I have to keep track of any technology, and we have a lot. They should give me time off teaching to take care of it, and sometimes they do. Part of this meeting is goiing to be to discuss that. After the meeting I am heading home. Yes, happy about that...

20070124 - 12:18 PM - SCREAMS!!

Daily I deal with screaming. One might thing that they are my own, but alas no, I do not scream, yell, or rarely get angry. The screams come from the room next door. I mean we are talking death screams, screams that just put you on edge. Yes, every day this child just screams at least a couple of times. So now is one of those moments. Very loud, very on edge, very nerve racking. I will survive... In just a few minutes I will be headed toward lunch... Spaghetti the wife made last night... yum...

20070124 - 11:00 AM - Transitions

My day is always a day of transitions. Every FORTY minutes from 9:30AM on I transition from one class to another. Right now a fourth grade class is entering. It has been a crazy morning some program issues I had to figure out, I don't think I figured them all but we will see.... OK had to take a quick break to teach... they make me do that... back on track...

20070124 - 8:31 AM

Made it to work. Got all loged in on the three comptuers I use, and wanted to try posting from work using the email system. So, this "offically" is the first email sent via my work email to the work blog eight to four. If this works that is kind of really cool. I can't read blogger from where I am, I can't post (traditionally, online) from where I am, but they say you can email and it will come through. All right have to go, going to set up the iTunes so I get the tunes flowing... For me can't have a good day unless I have tunes flowing... I love my tunes...
